Benefits of Resin Floor Coating
Resin floor coating is a hardwearing plastic surface that can be applied to concrete surfaces in various thicknesses. It creates a high-performing floor that offers excellent abrasion resistance, chemical resistance and conductivity. These floor coating systems come in epoxy, urethane, MMA and vinyl ester formulations and are ideal for commercial and industrial environments.
The primary benefit of a resin floor is that it protects the underlying substrate from damage and degradation. This makes it suitable for heavy duty environments where impact, abrasion and chemical spillage can occur. Resin is also easy to maintain as it is non-porous and does not allow dirt and moisture to penetrate into the substrate.
Protective Coatings: Understanding Resin Floor Coating
Epoxy resins are commonly used for their coloured, hardwearing protective properties and can be applied to a variety of substrates. They can be customised with aggregates, pigments, and decorative chips/flakes to offer different aesthetics for the flooring and can be finished with a smooth or textured finish. Textured finishes are typically used to achieve a P1 slip rating, and can be modified in many ways to enhance the safety features of the floor.
Because of their durability, these floors are long-lasting and can be expected to last for up to 10 years, or more if properly maintained. This reduces the need for regular replacement, resulting in savings on labor and materials costs. It is possible to extend the lifespan of a resin floor by regularly sweeping and mopping the floors with water and a sanitiser, and degreasing as necessary to prevent the build-up of contaminants.
